You're reading or watching this because you're fucking procrastinating, living other people's experiences. Because what the fuck do navy seals have to do with you sitting on your phone?
- nothing.
You just clog up your day with spoiled mileage.
that's what matters....
Especially in this obsession of today that you necessarily have to get up at 4:30 because Jocko Willink gets up at 4:30, everyone has to run ultramarathons, etc. etc. etc.
- no.
If you run a business it is your job to run the business. Everything else is just an add-on.
You can strengthen yourself emotionally in a business context - sure.
But you don't have to do everything around it.
- Just because someone has run an ultramarathon - doesn't mean you have to run an ultramarathon.
- Just because someone is doing a 7-day fast - doesn't mean you have to do a 7-day fast.
- Just because someone gets up at 4:30 a.m. - doesn't mean that you should get up at 4:30 a.m.
Honestly?
It's better for you to get a good night's sleep and sleep those 7/8 hours than to do something against yourself, because it's just fashionable....
If you have concrete, favorable arguments - boldly see how it goes for you. Experiment a little.
- but not because everyone around you is doing it.
I have a challenge for you:
Try for 7 days to do ONLY that which brings you much closer to your goal. (Recovery is as much a part of achieving as pushing yourself).
I guarantee you 2 things:
1. You will find it damn hard to do it.
2. If you make the decision that you are taking the challenge and DON'T quit within 7 days - you will see how much you REALLY can do in 1 week.
Most simply, think about what you absolutely must do and what you absolutely cannot do.
And in fact, only this first part is enough .... because you simply can't do anything other than what is important.
The rules are simple:
- if you lose - you are a loser.
This can mean different things:
(a) that you don't care about your life,
b) that you can't take control of yourself and your life,
c) that you are a lazy motherfucker,
d) that you may have had a worse time and simply failed.
(Guess which 1 of the above is just an excuse) ;)
- if you win - you will be a winner.
And sometimes that's all that matters in life.
